How to Freeze a Row in Excel / freeze rows and columns in excel
Freeze Top Row in Excel
- Open Your Excel Spreadsheet
- Navigate to the “View” tab on the ribbon at the top of the screen.
- Freeze Panes: In View tab go to “Window” group.
- To freeze the top row: View > Freeze Panes > Freeze Top Row
This will keep the top row (Row 1) visible as you scroll down through the rest of your spreadsheet, you also have an option for freeze top columns
Freeze Multiple Rows
First Select Rows which you want to freeze
To freeze multiple rows: Select the row below the rows you want to freeze > View > Freeze Panes > Freeze Panes
If you want to freeze more than just the top row, you can use the “Freeze Panes” option:
- Select the Row Below: Click the row number on the left side of the Excel sheet to select the entire row that is directly below the rows you want to freeze. For example, if you want to freeze the first 5 rows, you should select row 6.
- Freeze Panes:
- To freeze multiple rows: > View > Freeze Panes > Freeze Panes
